Best IIT JEE books for the preparation of JEE Main 2016 and 2017
There are many books for preparation for JEE which you might find. Below are a collection of books which we have short listed as a must have for JEE preparation. Before going further we would like to inform you that the books which we have short listed helps you with you 12th board exams as well as JEE Mains and Advance.
While studying it is important to follow a sequence to get the best results.

Physics IIT JEE Books

NCERT Physics for Class 11th and Class 12th

Make this book your foundation of preparation since it lets you know the depth of syllabus you are to cover.
Pros: Recommended by JEE and 12th boards so covers the exact amount of information needed to score well.
Cons: Page quality not good and topic explanation is to boring to understand.

Fundamentals of Physics by I.E. Irodov

Note this book has been published twice once by Mir Publishers in 1981 please do not buy this is it the old one. Buy the one which is published by CBS Publishers and Distributors

Books for question practicing for JEE

Remember that JEE is all about practicing more and more questions.

Problems in General Physics: Igor Irodov

The publisher for the book is G.K. Publishers (P) Limited. This book contains questions of good quality ranging from easy to difficult. You will get solutions to the questions in this book as well make sure to purchase that as well.

Concepts of Physics Part-1 by HC Verma, Bharati Bhawan Publishers & Distributors, 1999

Concepts of Physics Part-2 by HC Verma, Bharati Bhawan Publishers & Distributors, 1999

Note these books are just for questions practising and it is advice that you follow these books only after you have completed the syllabus since the questions in these books are medium and difficult level. Remember that now JEE has reduced the level of questions, when these books were published the paper use to be subjective type and not objective.

Fundamental of Physics by Halliday, Resnick & Walker:

It was first published in 1960 and has been last updated in 2013 which is the tenth edition was the book.
Pros: Covers classical physics properly and every topic is covered in details
Cons: does not have a collection of question need to practice. The questions provided are very limited.

Chemistry IIT JEE Books

NCERT for class 11th

NCERT Chemistry for class 12th.

We will advise you to keep the following books with you as you read from NCERT simply because the method of explanation in these books is very good and easy to understand but remember that these books contains information which is not there in your syllabus as well.

Physical Chemistry “A Very Short Introduction” – P.W. Atkins

Pros: the further information part at the end of each topic is very nice. The questions provided are of good quality.
Cons: takes a while to learn how to navigate. The solutions to the questions are not provided. (We have got the solution of the questions in our website assignment section)
Latest Edition: 2006

Organic Chemistry – Morrison & Boyd

“Known as the Bible of organic Chemistry” it covers every little detail you need to know about organic chemistry and the explanation is superb. This book is good enough to help you score full marks in organic chemistry for JEE. The best part about this book it that it covers from basic to advance hence we will recommend this book for class 11th and 12th as well.

Concise Inorganic Chemistry – J.D. Lee

“If this book fails to help you gain interest in Inorganic Chemistry then no other can”. This book is a masterpiece and all the points are covered going to the deepest level possible.
Pros: Everything explained in details and can help you achieve excellent marks in JEE.
Cons: Contains a lot of topics which are not in JEE Syllabus.

Important point about the IIT JEE Books

Many local teachers have tried to summarize these books as per the 11th and 12th syllabus or JEE syllabus but in order to do that have left many important points behind so we do not advice you to follow them.

Maths IIT JEE Books

NCERT books for class 11th and 12th

Again we will advice you not to miss out on NCERT since all the other books are not as per the JEE syllabus other than NCERT. We know it is difficult to understand from this book but we cannot ignore it.

Higher Algebra by Hall and Knight for Algebra

This book contains over 4000 questions. The questions in this book might not be too difficult and you might think it is not JEE Level Questions. This book explains the entire topic you need to understand with ease and if you practice all the questions in this book trust us you will score well in JEE maths.

Problems in Calculus of One Variable by I. A. Maron

This book not just explains you calculus but it give you a great idea why and how calculus is useful. This book got a great method of teaching where after each concept it will explain you a question related to it. Love the theory practice approach of this book.

Calculus and Analytic Geometry by Thomas and Finney

Maths is all about practicing another book for Calculus which we can advice you is Calculus and Analytic Geometry. The first eight chapters are essential concepts of differentiation and integration along with application of the two. The second contents half vectors and 3d Geometry. The best part about this book is that Problems are divided into ‘problem sets’ reflecting the divisions in the section which is very useful.
