Electrostatics and Current Electricity JEE

While the unit contributes to 14% of the entire Physics, it doesn’t tell the big story. This is a massively important unit because almost 5 questions appear every year and the chapter form the basics of Physics that are useful in other units as well. The chapter adds on to the concepts of Electromagnetism as well. All the 3 chapters i.e., Electrostatics, Current Electricity and Capacitance are important for the students to prepare and shouldn’t be ignored. A total of 47 questions have been asked in the last 10 years.

Important questions for Electrostat & Current Electricity for JEE Main and Advanced

  • 1
  • 2
  • 3

Q.

Three large plates are arranged as shown. How much charge will flow through the key k if it is closed?

Q.

What is the amount of power delivered by the ac source in the circuit shown (in watts).

Q.

The figure shows four situations in which charges as indicated (q> 0) are fixed on an axis. In which situation is there a point to the left of the charges where an electron would be in equilibrium?

Q. Is Electrostatics easy?

Electrostatics is important not only for JEE but also for 12th boards. It is the foundation for all the chapters like electricity and magnetism so you have to have clear concepts of electrostatics to continue enjoying physics and score in JEE.

Q. Is Current Electricity Important for JEE?

Since 2011 20 questions have been asked from current electricity 3 questions are asked every year from electricity in JEE. It is also very important for your class 12th boards so you have to have a good understanding of the topic to do well in JEE as well as in 12th Boards.

Q. Is NCERT enough for electrostatics and electricity for JEE?

If you do just NCERT electricity you will qualify JEE main but will not get a good rank. NCERT will help you get good marks in Boards but not JEE. JEE has just 30% of the syllabus from NCERT for the remaining 70% you will have to go more in-depth of the subject for which NCERT is not enough.

Q. Is capacitance important for JEE?

JEE ask at least 1 question from capacitance every year. You cannot skip this chapter since it has importance in your 12th Board exam as well. Also understanding the topic will help you in magnetism.

Q. How many questions are asked from electrostatics in JEE mains?

Since last 10 years, 15 questions have been asked since last 5 years only 1 question is been asked more weightage is given to current electricity but remember that electrostatics holds the key to understanding current electricity and magnetism if your electrostatics is weak both these topics will be difficult for you

Q. How many questions are asked about Current electricity in JEE mains?

In JEE 2020 on avg, every set had 3 questions from current electricity. since last 5 years on avg 3 questions are asked from this chapter. It is also important for 12th Boards

Q. Which are the important topics in current electricity?

We Will advise you to have in-depth knowledge of current electricity since it's important for 12th boards also. The topic you have to put focus on is Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's rules, resistivity, electrical energy and power, emf, wheatstone bridge
