The Joint Admission Board says students follow new exam procedure for the IIT exam preparation. In 2012, Ministry of HRD simplified that only students who are among the top 20 percent in their respective boards will be considered eligible for final admission. In other words, the successful student should also be in the top 20 percentile of their Board Exams (state board or CBSE) in applicable categories

The first test is called the JEE Main conducted by CBSE. The merit list for admission in IITs, will be prepared by giving 40% weightage to class XII or equivalent examination or other qualifying examination marks and 60% of the performance in the JEE Main Examination. The second test is called the JEE Advanced. It will be held by the IITs. Only top 1, 50,000 rankers of JEE Main, including all categories students like GE, OBC (NCL), SC and ST as per Reservation policy will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced Test. So students must be serious while doing JEE main preparation to secure your seat in JEE Advanced.

In the past, students of Class XI/XII prepare for IIT JEE with the help of coaching classes and had to move the city of their coaching classes so could not cope up with the dual pressure of school and IIT JEE coaching.  As a result student neglect their school studies in trying to keep their IIT JEE preparations. With the introduction of online coaching centers students don’t need to travel destinations like Delhi, Kota , etc. to join coaching classes. School studies and online studies can go hand in hand and offer required focus as there is a direct link of school performance with admission to engineering colleges. After clearing IIT main you have enough time for the JEE Advanced preparation only clearing of JEE Main is not enough so students it’s not the end of your fight.
