QUARK’14—Techfest BITS Goa

Inspired by these words, we strive to bring you the most wondrous magic ever in the form of QUARK 2014. BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus plans to host its Annual International Technical and Innovation festival, QUARK 2014, from 7th to 9th of February, 2014.
The QUARK banner is synonymous with innovation as each edition boasts of events, guest lectures, workshops and special nights surpassing the ingenuity and grandeur of its predecessors. With a plethora of events to cater to students of varied backgrounds and disciplines, including a lecture by the eminent former president Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Noble laureates like Sir Harry Kroto and Douglas Osheroff, events like the BITS Model United Nation and a number of diverse workshops like CyFi advanced wireless workshops by Cypress Semiconductors, corporate finance workshops by Grant Thorton, Nex Robotics, Reuters Finance and a LabVIEW workshop, QUARK has carved a niche for itself as one of the biggest technical fests in India.
Some of the highlights of previous editions of Quark are as follows:
- Pre-Quark events in collaboration with Google Developers Group like Google hackathon and INK Talks which brought people from diverse genres like Joi Barua(Singer), Krushnaa Patil(mountaineer), Anupam Mukherji(fake IPL player) under one roof provided an excellent kickoff for Quark 2013.
- Quark 2013 brought in Chris Phillips(Professor,Imperial College,London),popularly called the invisible man who dazzled a whole crowd of 2000 people in the auditorium by using his “clever coat” and research on quantum physics that rendered him invisible.
- The playful tone of technology was set by the Skateboarding workshop by Quicksilver India, Laser Tag and an impressive event line up that kept the momentum going around quark 2013.
- Previous editions have witnessed performances by the likes of world renowned magician Arvind Jayashankar, Feeding the Fish (performers at Athens Olympics 2004). Quark 2013 unraveled the charisma behind singer Gajendra Verma who enthralled the audience with a mesmerizing and highly innovative performance.
Quark 2013 set a benchmark with footfalls exceeding 10,000.It witnessed participation from over 500 colleges from all over India. The total turnover for Quark 2013 was over INR 40 Lakh.
This year we wish to further our horizons, create a benchmark for innovation & establish a platform for the exchange of ideas by making Quark 2014 even bigger.
