Question

Discus the position of the points (1, 2) and (6, 0) with respect to the circle.

                 x2 + y2 – 4x + 2y – 11 = 0

Solution

Correct option is

(1, 2) inside & (6, 0) outside

And for the point (6, 0)

           = 36 – 35 = 1

Hence the point (1, 2) lies inside the circle and the point (6, 0) lies outside the circle.
