A 2.0 cm tall object is placed 15 cm from a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm. How far is the image from the mirror? 

Solution

Correct option is

30 cm

 

u = - 15cm, = -10 cm (concave mirror) and O = + 2.0cm

 and substituting for u and f we get 

            

The negative sign indicates that the image is on the same side of the mirror as the object.
