Question

The solubility of hydroxides, fluorides or oxalates of the metal of Group IIA

Solution

Correct option is

Increase down the group

Both lattice energy and hydrolysis energy decreases moving down the group due to gradual increase in size of M++ ion. So former tends to increase the solubility while latter tends to decrease it. But lattice energy has dominating role here. And therefore, solubility increases down the group.
