Acceleration & Velocity - One Dimensional Motion JEE Chapterwise Analysis, Weightage and Overview

Vectors add a new dimension to the kit of the students. This chapter introduced basic formulas and equations. While questions directly do not appear from the chapter as only 3 questions have been asked in the past 10 years. Understand the intuition behind the simple equations and it will be useful in all the upcoming chapters. A simple understanding of various graphs is useful as well. .

Q. An engine of a train moving with uniform acceleration passes an electric pole with velocity u and the last compartment with velocity v . the middle part of train passes the same pole with a velocity ...... thus my question please explain the concept behind it and also slution in detail.?

Answer (1) length of train :- l When last compartment passes through pole distance covered by first compartment is l ∴v 2 =u 2 +2al ∴a= 2l v 2 −u 2  Now, when middle post passes, distance covered by first compartment is 2 l  ∴v f 2  =u 2 + 2 Ral  =u 2 +( 2l v 2 −u 2  )l= 2 v 2 +u 2  ∴v f  = 2 v 2 +u 2

Q. Tell when should we use acceleration as -g and g. also tell when should we use displacement as -x and x when a body moves either upwards or downwards?

suppose you have taken upward direction as positive and downwards as negative from starting point , then when ball is moving upwards , displacement will be + x and gravity will be -g because it is acting downwards.
now if ball is moving down , then displacment will be -x and gravity will be +g

Q. A juggler keeps on moving four balls in the air throws the balls in regular interval of time when one ball leaves his hands with speed 20m/s the position of other balls will be ( G=10m/s^2) I am not getting answer please tell how to solve this question step by step.?

The height of ball 1 is 15 m, of ball 2 is 20 m and of ball 3 is 20 m respectively.

Time taken by same ball to return to the hands of juggler =2u / g ( use equation of motion , with displacement = 0)

= 2×20 / 10 = 4s.

Therefore he is throwing the balls after each 1s.( given in question equal interval)

Let at some instant he is throwing ball number 4.

Before 1s of it he throws ball 3.

So height of ball 3

h3 = 20 × 1 − 1 / 2 x 10(1)^2 = 15 m

Before 2s, he throws ball 2. So height of ball 2 is

h2 = 20 × 2 − 1 / 2 x 10(2)^2 = 20 m

Before 3s, he throws ball 1. So height of ball 1 :

h1 = 20 × 3 − 1 / 2 x 10(2)^2 = 20 m

Hence the height of ball 1 is 15 m, of ball 2 is 20 m and of ball 3 is 20 m respectively.
